This is my first website. Looking at many others there is of course basic information as there should be, and mine is no different in that respect starting with “Meet the Attorney”.

I would also like you to meet me.

My Core Values include:

  1. Life is about connective tissue.
  2. I can only elevate myself by elevating those around me at the same time.
  3. I am known as a lateral thinker. As an example of lateral thinking when I look at “ll” on a page, it could be two, could be an Arabic number, could be a binary number, could be 11, could be 2 posts, could be 180 degrees, could be completely random etc. The issue is the context of the matter.
  4. I see problems as Venn diagrams; intersecting circles whose areas of intersection reveal mutuality.
  5. I see chaos as disorder, and I see disorder as presenting the maximum opportunity for reorder.
  6. I understand the dichotomy in virtually all matters between how something is perceived because perception creates its own reality without regard to facts, and the underlying facts that drive an issue. I know from long experience that dealing with the perceptive problem is as important as the factual problem.
  7. Then there is the business dichotomy, equally important, distinguishing between the “business”, meaning what the entity does, and the “business of business” meaning the environmental issues in which the business operates. (For further discussion of this business dichotomy see my article entitled “Success – Failure – Success Syndrome”)
  8. Winning is about understanding what the “win” is in any particular matter, which also includes minimizing harm, sometimes referred to as loss.

  • Some Personal Information:

    1. My wife and I have been married for almost 50 years now. We have two grown children and presently three grandchildren.
    2. My happy place is my 57 year old restored wooden sailboat pictured below, originally made in 1966.
    3. Riding my road bicycle helps to keep me in shape, and my tradition on my birthday is to ride my bicycle one mile for each year plus one more for the future. I am about to turn 78, so this summer’s ride is targeted to be 79 miles. These are always one day rides, and the question I always ask myself, “Will this be the year I won’t make it?” Stay tuned!

Practicing law is about knowing my clients and having them know me, because one of the key elements to any successful professional relationship is earning trust and confidence.
